Summery September Salutations!

I trust you had (are still having, until September 21st) a totally awesome summer. Oh, how I hate to see it go! RVAA will do its best to transition you to a creative autumn with our first meeting of the season Monday, September 20th, 7:30 pm, Anne Kullaf will present "Acrylic or Oil--Can't decide? Use both!" Many artists choose oil as their medium because of the rich colors and ability to work wet-into-wet, yet become frustrated with lengthy drying times. Others prefer acrylics for their fast drying qualities, yet wish they could achieve the alla prima effects capable only with oils. This demo shows you how to get the best of both worlds! Anne Kullaf will demonstrate how to use the 2 mediums together to paint effectively and efficiently in a loose, impressionistic alla prima style. Surface selection, preparation, underpainting, color palette and brushwork will be discussed and demonstrated in detail in a study of Kullaf's favorite subject matter: the urban landscape. Editor's note: If you want to look at some of Anne's lovely work, please go to http://www.kullaf.com/ . Anne is a member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (Board of Directors, 2008 - 2011), the Salmagundi Club, and the International Guild of Realism. Do come and enjoy this evening! We are looking for Hospitality volunteers for September. Please contact President Linda Arnold at 908/347-6410.

It's here! The grand official opening of the new Bridgewater Township Municipal Building. I know some of you would like a painting in this show. Please contact me asap, preferably by email as that is more reliable and then I have it on paper....delivery will be Friday, September 17 at the municipal building 9:30-12:30. Please indicate whether you will bring one or two pieces (depending on the number of entrants we may have room for two for each artist). The Opening Reception will be Wednesday, October 13 from 4:30-8 and will have music and food as well.

Main Street Highland Park invites you to participate in the 6th Annual Arts in the Park arts festival in Highland Park, New Jersey, show & sale scheduled for Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.
