Feisty Fall Felicitations!
And what a delightful sunny, blustery day it is as I write this. Sad to say there will not be an October meeting as the library is recarpeting the meeting rooms. However, we will have our regular November meeting on the 23rd with a repeat appearance (new work and demo, of course) by Seppo Siimes. We all enjoyed September's demo by children's book writer/illustrator and watercolorist Doris Ettlinger, who demonstrated watercolor glazing on a charming picture of a child staring at goldfish in a bowl (could there be a better subject?!)
RVAA's Special Show will be at the Bernardsville Library in November. PLEASE PHONE CHAIRWOMAN JUDY HUMMER AT 908-218-1786 IF YOU WISH TO BE IN THIS SHOW. Judy must know ASAP. It's not too late, so call now. Receiving is Monday, November 2, pick-up November 30. We will have a reception November 8---and you probably know that Kathy Palmer, the Bernardsville Art Lady, always gets patrons out to the receptions. So phone Judy. Now. Please.
Repeat-repeat-DUES ARE DUE. Please send your checks made out to RVAA to our Membership Chairman Doug Axmann, 16 Schoolhouse Lane, Somerville, NJ, 08876. Dues are $30. Individual, $35. Family, and $15. Student (through high school). Dues will get you all these demonstrations, two or three exhibits a year (including the Bernardsville Exhibit and our Holiday Extravaganza at the Somerset County Library), the annual Big Apple Trip, the newsletters, a presence on the internet www.raritanvalleyarts.org), and last, but not least, lots of camaraderie.
Although she is gracious enough to stay on as Treasurer for a while, Barbara Fiorentino will be stepping down as Treasurer. RVAA is thus looking for a volunteer. Please call President Linda Arnold at 908/647-3610.
Call for entries: The Baltimore Watercolor Society's Mid-Atlantic Exhibition at prestigious Strathmore Mansion in North Bethesda, Maryland will be held April 16 - May 22, 2010. Open to watermedia artists residing in the Mid-Atlantic states and DC. Juror: Jean Uhl Spicer, AWS NWS. $1000 first place. Entry by CD. Deadline February 3, 2010. For a prospectus and more information go to www.baltimorewatercolorsociety.org.
